In winter, the area around Turren and Schönbüel is transformed into a gentle winter paradise - far away from the noise of everyday life. If you listen carefully, you will notice after a few steps to the Turrenhuis that you won't hear anything apart from the crunching snow and the fresh winter air - this is what winter idyll sounds like.

Winter hiking trail

The well-maintained alpine road leads gently uphill around the Finsterbüel and up to the beautifully situated, sleepy hut village of Breitenfeld. In winter, the alpine huts are covered in deep snow, so that usually only the tip of the roof is visible.

Snowshoe tour Schönbüel

The secluded arena of the Üsseri Alp, the beautifully situated Bärghuis Schönbüel and the sleepy hut village of Breitenfeld - all this makes for a unique and panoramic circular hiking experience.

Ski tours

For many ski tourers, the Turren is a popular starting point for attractive ski tours. For beginners and connoisseurs, the tour to Bärghuis Schönbüel is a worthwhile destination. The ascent to Höch Gumme offers the most spectacular views. The views are spectacular, especially in winter.

Restaurant Turren

Bärghuis Schönbüel

The traditional and expansive chalet-style inn on a sunny terrace (2008 m above sea level) high above Lungern and the Hasli Valley offers a magnificent view. Hikers from all four points of the compass from Brienz or Sörenberg via the Brienzerrothorn, from Giswil via the Flounalp, from Pilatus via Langis or from Brünig via the Wilerhorn meet at Schönbüel.

Turrenhuis

The Turrenhuis offers 22 spacious studios and junior suites with 2 to 4 beds. Spend carefree days in a family atmosphere and enjoy the fresh alpine air.

Summer

Popular experiences

High summer is hiking season. When the snow has also melted at higher altitudes, the time for wonderful ridge hikes begins. Two popular day hikes are from Turren via Mändli to Schönbüel or from Brienzer Rothorn to Turren. Summit conquerors are rewarded with a magnificent panorama of the mountains around the Sarneraa valley from Lucerne to Nidwalden, Obwalden and the Bernese Alps.

Höch Gumme round tour

The Höch Gumme above Lungern is a rewarding destination with its fantastic 360° panorama. Passing alpine meadows, beautiful summit crosses and fantastic viewpoints, this tour leaves nothing to be desired.

Butterfly trail

The mosaic of dry meadows of national importance has been proven to be home to over 100 species of diurnal butterflies. The most striking of these are described on 17 information boards along the way. Most of the colorful butterflies can be observed from June to August.

Rothorn - Turren high-altitude hike

The ridge hike from Schönbüel to the Brienzer Rothorn is rightly regarded as one of the most beautiful high-altitude hikes in Switzerland with magnificent views of the Bernese Alps and Lake Brienz. The hike can be done in both directions.

Walk Breitenfeld

A walk with views deep into the Lungern basin and far into the Bernese Alps. Far away from the hustle and bustle, the alpine road leads gently uphill around Finsterbüel and to the wonderfully situated, sleepy hut village of Breitenfeld.

Turrengrat fireplace

The barbecue area on the Turrengrat ridge is generously laid out with tables, benches and stools and offers a large fire bowl and three other small barbecue areas. Fresh water and wood are also available. The footpath on the Turrengrat is accessible without restrictions and is suitable for wheelchairs and baby carriages.

Turren Dörfli playground

The large "Turren Dörfli" playground is located right next to the Turren restaurant and makes children's eyes light up. The observation tower offers an even better view of the surrounding mountains. The curved slide takes you down quickly. Continue climbing or balancing from tower to tower.
